5 (almost) alert pugs

How to take optimal Pug Pictures: Find a pug. or a group of pug. it really doesn't matter.

Because the next step is to yell 'TREAT!!" at drum-blowing decibels -- this will result in a collection of marginally alert-looking pugs for the camera.

Sometimes, the pugs' behavior sort of says it all. At the end of the day, they revert to puppy-dom state, and are happy to collapse in a flurry of paws and snorts.

I think it reminds them of when they were puppies. I like to believe that they find comfort and love in each others' company.

After a weekend of doing nothing, the puppy can't even open her eyes. Such a good, sunny spot she's found.

Oh, What a Happy Day

So before the previously described vet trip, we thought to take the puglets to Golden Gate Park. Partly to stroll around, but also to tire the puppy out, to make her more compliant (that didn't work).

No idea why the lake is bright green. Perhaps because it's man-made.

We brought along the jogger for when Sasha would inevitably poop out and start hobbling around.

Didn't stop her from being Intensely Curious when the cause presented itself, tho.

All 3 were not taking any chances they would be looked over for a share of our lunch.

Of course, their weak-willed dada gave in and gave them the majority of his sandwich. Who can resist THREE pairs of begging eyes?

Vet visit

It's a well-known fact that Sasha has pigmentary keratitis (discoloration of her eye, which can lead to blindness). The early signs are excessive eye goobers and eye cloudiness. Which we recently discerned in the puppy. EXCLAMATION POINT!

Off to the vet we went. For a routine checkup for the blind pug (Sasha) and for the apparently-eventually-to-be blind pug (Deedee). Cleo came along for company and moral support.

Totally unfazed while waiting for the vet. Sasha, of course, was an angel throughout all the poking and prodding of her eyeballs.

Deedee required 2 strong assistants for just the preliminary measurements.

This one was to measure her tear production, but I call it The Hilarious Test. Note the mandatory use of at least 3 restraining hands.

The good news was that Sasha seems to be getting better on her regimen of eye ointment and drops. The bad news is that Deedee, indeed, seems to have the early form of the disease and needs to be on daily ointment. Which we all saw, she hated.

The puglets were exhausted after their ordeal.

Pug nap

What is a sleepy pug to do when she is in need of a comfortable place to rest her head for a well-deserved nap?

Well, she can look pathetically with Garbo-eyes until some human picks her up.

Or just make do with the closest spot she's got.

The pugs luv luving

The best part about guests, is that they can be trained pretty easily to give out easy luving.  As the pugs have already learned.  Savvy puglets.

Nothing better

Cleo is such a needy pug.  All she wants is physical contact, a pet, a hand on the head.

We always oblige.  It's impossible to resist a pug in need of love.

Oh, to be a pug.  On a lazy, sunny, Sunday afternoon.

Rikki's fave snuggle partner is clearly her sister, Bunni.

Luckily Rikki has enough luv to go around. Much to Sasha's obvious alarm.
