Goodbye, my darling pug

I have no words for what is in my heart.

enjoying the afternoon sun in her mama's arms

From Sasha's (much more literate) auntie:

how do you say goodbye to our first pug, our lovable grande dame.

i am grateful for every moment you have been with us and all the joy that you brought to our lives. i can't imagine the last 14 years without you.
i'll always remember the first moment i met you, you funny looking thing, and how i could lift you with one hand and how you always wanted to be near a human.
i'll never forget catching a glimpse of you on top of the kitchen table, after having just shoved a wine glass onto the floor.
i'll never forget how excited you became over the duck toy your mom dangled in front of your face, and how you would rambunctiously run up and down the stairs.
i love how you would bury your face completely when sleeping.
remember i put a stocking on your head one christmas? i don't think you liked it.
it will be hard not to have you at the dinner table this christmas, but what matters more are all the holidays we did spend together and all the treats the big pieces of food bestowed on you. they loved making you happy--we all love making you happy.
i guess that's why, as your body fails, we know that what your parents are doing for you is the right decision.
we don't want you to suffer.
you know, and have always known, how loved and treasured you are. as much as this hurts now, we wouldn't trade it for a second of the time that we've shared with you.

we love you forever and ever. we let you go with heartache, of course, but more importantly with love and comfort, and knowledge that you will be at peace.

baby girl there will never be another pug like you.

Please know that there are people out here in blog land who are thinking of you and your family, praying for you, grieving with you, and sending lots of love your way. Sasha was an amazing friend, and is blessed to have you as her family. I'm so, so so sorry for your loss. *hugs*

  7. I've been keeping up with your wonderful pugs for a while now, but I never post. I am so sorry for your loss. I just put our 16 yoa pug down two weeks ago. It is like losing a limb. Please know others out there understand and share your pain. It will be easier to bear with time.

  9. These pugs leave such gaping holes in our hearts when they leave us. It's unfair that their lives are so much shorter than ours.
    You don't grieve alone.
Bless you for having the strength to do the right thing for Sasha as much as you wanted to keep her forever.
Sending peace and comfort to you.

  10. My friends.
I am finally able to come back- to finish reading this. Our heart breaks with yours because we know you hurt. We are sitting beside you with love.
You gave little Sasha such a wonderful happy life. She felt so loved. You know she felt special.
And no way would she want you to be sad- but yet she knew you would be- when the time came to set her free. You gave the kindest - most unselfish gift- to think only of her-- and not of yourself.
Right now little Sasha is in the arms of the angels.
I send hope and love for your hearts to heal.

  11. Please forgive us for not commenting earlier (as we thought we had). I cried reading this at work. I too have been dreading hearing this news. It is hard to accept a good furiend passing to the rainbow bridge and leaving broken hearts behind. We sure will miss Miss Sasha and think about her often. Thank you so much for keeping us up on her life and puggy journey. Give love to Cleo and Deedee for us please.
