New place to lounge

Somepug has found a super comfy resting spot. Wherever could it be?

Remember those great carpeted stair covers that the pugs' grampa sent, so that miss a-feared Deedee could rev up the courage to actually climb the stairs? Well, Deedee is not the only puglet who's taken to them like flies to a banana cream pie.

It will forever be a mystery as to why she prefers that particular step.

i will not be mocked, mama -- this provides just the right amount of cushion and support for my aging bones

Such a snuggle buddy

One cannot sit in a chair for a hot second without having a pug run over, place a delicate-yet-demanding paw on one's knee, and hear her whine softly under her breath. She's not begging for treats. She's not even begging for pets, or belly rubs. She's hoping against all hope to be placed on your lap.

And then apparently asphyxiated by an awkward neck angle.

Devoted pug

In our human-centric society, it's construed as less offensive if one were to choose a favorite pug, rather than a favorite human child. That being said, it's impossible for a mama to choose which one pug takes up the most space in a mama's heart. Each one is loved for all of her quirks, foibles and adorable mannerisms.

Sadly, pugs' hearts are not so equal-opportunity. Sasha has repeatedly made it clear, from day 1, that her dada is first in her heart. As a matter of fact, he is so ahead of the pack, the mama isn't even on the radar.

When the dada leaves the house, Sasha waits at the top of the stairs for his return.

why am i left with the crazy lady

I can imagine nothing more heart-warming than a pug at the top of the stairs to greet you on your return.

Life Lesson

Counterintuitively, the safest action for a puglet is to avoid family members. Especially crazy aunties. Doting grampas and grammas are totally OK, but shnergling aunties without a dollop of conscience or morality are persons to stay away from.

i am snuggling with my loving auntie whom i love and who is comfy and nice

i am snuggling with my auntie who is lovingly petting my silky ear

i am plotting to escape the evil auntie who laughs at my expense now but will pay later

Happy Valentine's Day!

We're skiing. Sadly, sans puglets. We are sad, but also... well.... skiing.

Park buddy

It's been freakishly warm here -- in the 80s oh I'm sorry is it butt-cold and snowing where you are because YOU PICKED THE WRONG PLACE TO LIVE. Anyhoo, so we took advantage of the warmer temp and longer daylight hours to venture back into the park.

No one there. Well, no dogs, anyway, there were about a million screaming children but the pugs had no interest in them.

But... could it be? a little dog? meh, it's a chihuahua. They never want to play with the pugs. Except that this one saw in Deedee her lifelong soulmate/buddy/playfriend and in the space of time I could say cock-a-doodle-doo, the 2 dogs were chasing each other around the park, in a blur.

I wish I could post pics of them together, but they were too quick. and then Sasha and Cleo started scavenging half-eaten Cheerios from aforementioned screaming children, so my attention was totally diverted.

Lazy Monday

I had a rare day to spend with the pugs... and all of the people I had made appointments with to look at various things that need fixing in the house during the day. All those people, ringing the doorbell, walking through the house with those fascinating smells, providing varying amounts of affection ( is it reasonable to not want to work with someone who doesn't love dogs and/or pugs?). The pugs were EXHAUSTED after their long day of meet-and-greet.

How is a pug to stay conscious in this situation.

Certainly no conceivable way.

Unless said pug is still holding out hope for a derelict treat.

Yet another vet visit

This time, it's a re-check for both Deedee and Sasha. Both of them have pigmentary keratitis, and while Sasha is status quo if not better, little Deedee is having a re-check to see if the upped dose of her eye meds has helped any.

Sasha wonders if there's a treat involved for an improved eye exam

Did I mention that a little bottle of the eye drops they're getting twice daily, which lasts us appoximately one month each, are almost $40? That doesn't even include the cost of the actual vet visit.

Deedee is horrified but would still like a treat, please

My kingdom for some doggie health insurance. OH WAIT. They do have insurance, but the damn insurance people claim that pigmentary keratitis is a congenital condition for the pug breed, and won't pay up. Well, if it's so congenital, how come Cleo doesn't have it?

don't hate me because i'm beautiful

All in all the visit was a roaring success. The vet tech was one of their faves, in that she stuffs them liberally with treats.

exsqueeze us? may we have some more treats, please?

This is Cleo running away from any potential vet exam. Don't worry little girl, for once you are not the target.

Happy little girls.
